ISIS sent Iran some Ramadan season's greetings Wednesday in the form of twin terror attacks in the capital city of Tehran. A suicide bomber detonated their vest in the middle of the Iranian parliament. Elsewhere in the city a team of gunmen stormed the shrine dedicated to Iran's revolutionary founder Ayatollah Khomeini. Fox News reports:
In a rare and stunning move, ISIS released video from inside the parliament building while the attack was under way. The video, circulated online, shows a gunman and a bloody, lifeless body of a man lying on the ground next to a desk. A voice on the video praises God and says in Arabic: “Do you think we will leave? We will remain, God willing.” Another voice repeats the same words. The two appeared to be parroting a slogan used by IS spokesman Abu Mohammad al-Adnani, who was killed in Syria last year.No word on whether or not the mayor of Tehran has told his people that terrorism is just part and parcel of big city living.
The parliament assault ended Wednesday morning with all four attackers there being killed.
One of the terrorists blew himself up inside the parliament building, where a session had been in progress, according to a statement carried by Iran state TV. It quoted lawmaker Elias Hazrati as saying the attackers were armed with Kalashnikov assault rifles.
The attacks in Tehran killed at least twelve people and injured dozens more. Today marks the first time that ISIS has attacked Iran in such a manner.
149 people have been killed in terror attacks this Ramadan season by adherents of the Religion of Peace. That estimate does not include the people killed in Saturday's attack on the London Bridge.
I'll bet John McCain and John Effing Kerry are thankful that the two greatest threats to the world are Russia and Climate Change. I hate to think what would happen if ISIS was at the top of that list.
