Philippine President Calls Obama a "Son of a Bitch"

Trigger Warning:
Not pictured: a respectful leader...
Want to hear a joke?  Okay, Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte walks into a bar and calls President Obama a son of a bitch.
Wait I'm sorry, that wasn't a joke.  That actually happened:
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte warned President Barack Obama on Monday not to question him about extrajudicial killings, or "son of a b---- I will swear at you" when they meet in Laos during a regional summit.

Speaking at the G20 summit in China on Monday morning, Obama said he had heard about Duterte's "colorful" remarks and instructed his staff to see if meetings with Duterte would still be "productive."

Duterte said before flying to Laos that he is a leader of a sovereign country and is answerable only to the Filipino people. He was answering a reporter's question about how he intends to explain the extrajudicial killings to Obama. More than 2,000 suspected drug pushers and users have been killed since Duterte launched a war on drugs after taking office on June 30.

In his typical foul-mouthed style, Duterte responded: "I am a president of a sovereign state and we have long ceased to be a colony. I do not have any master except the Filipino people, nobody but nobody. You must be respectful. Do not just throw questions. Putang ina I will swear at you in that forum," he said, using the Tagalog phrase for son of a b----.

Duterte's rant was in response to world criticism of his crackdown on illegal drug dealers.  A crackdown which has resulted in over 2,000 people being executed without trial.  The Philippine president seems to think that the rest of the world, and the US in particular, has no place to question what he does in his own country.  Duterte also brought up the "fact" that there are human rights abuses in the United States.

My question to President Duterte is this: what, exactly, are the "human rights abuses" keeping the United States from criticizing your extrajudicial killings of alleged criminals?  Are our policemen acting as judge, jury, and executioner like yours are?  I'm sure you would bring up Michael Brown, Freddie Gray, et al. as proof of human rights abuses.  I would also point out that nearly all of the high profile shootings protested by the #BlackLivesMatter crowd involve cops being forced to defend themselves against criminals trying to KILL them.  I would urge you to try harder.

This is yet another example of "smart power" in the age of Obama.  Can anyone remember a world leader talking to George Bush in such a manner (Chavez doesn't count)?  He was so crazy even Ghaddafi looked at him and said "oh shit! Here's our chemical weapons, George.  And you know what?  We'll stop trying to get nukes, too."  What about Bill Clinton?  Did any world leaders call him a son of a bitch?  Certainly no one ever talked back to Ronald Reagan.

Obama, however, has proven himself time and again to be a weak, feckless shell of a man.  Obama hikes up his mom jeans, bows to our enemies, and apologizes every chance he gets.  When the going gets tough he jets off to Martha's Vineyard to hide behind Michelle's skirt and play a few rounds of golf.
You know it's bad when your wife's package is bigger than yours...just sayin...
I've said it before and I'll say it again.  No one respects the United States anymore.  Certainly no one fears the United States anymore.  Obama has signaled to every would-be dictator and warlord that we are weak and will turn the other cheek time and again.  Hillary Clinton was the architect of his foreign policy for a good portion of his term.  Things won't be any better under her watch, and will very likely get even worse.

We desperately need to make a change this November.  We can't afford not to.
Let's see Duterte talk back to President Trump...
Update: Duterte Apologizes to Obama

Seems that President Duterte has apologized to Obama for his remarks after Obama cancelled a meeting between the two of them:
Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte expressed some regret over his explicit comments about President Barack Obama in a statement Tuesday and said a meeting between the two leaders would be rescheduled for a later date.

The two leaders were supposed to meet Monday before Obama flew to Laos. However, their meeting was canceled after Duterte called Obama a “son of a whore” and warned Obama not to question him over extrajudicial killings. More than 2,000 suspected drug pushers and users have been killed since Duterte launched a war on drugs after taking office on June 30.

“While the immediate cause was my strong comments to certain press questions that elicited concern and distress, we also regret it came across as a personal attack on the US president. Our primary intention is to chart an independent foreign policy while promoting closer ties with all nations, especially the US with which we had had a longstanding partnership,” Duterte said in a statement.

“We look forward to ironing out differences arising out of national priorities and perceptions, and working in mutually responsible ways for both countries,” he added.

My original points still stand.  Imagine any previous president being treated in this manner by a world leader.  You can't.
