Open Thread: Why the New Ghostbusters Will Suck

Trigger Warning:
Who you gonna call?  Someone else...
Ghostbusters is probably one of the most iconic movies to come out of the 1980s.  The movie was something that had really never been done in American cinema.  It was smart and funny.  It treated the paranormal as something that could be studied and explored using the scientific method.  Sure it was still a mysterious realm, but one that humans could manipulate just like any other natural phenomenon.  Nearly everyone who has seen the movie can quote the key scenes verbatim.  Those that can't have at least one or two good quotes that they can fall back on.  And of course everyone knows the answer to the question "who you gonna call?"
Okay guys, it was funny the first 20 times...
Ghostbusters has a formula that's almost impossible to replicate.  The sequel, Ghostbusters 2, tried and failed for the most part (although I still enjoyed it).  Fans were understandably skeptical when Sony announced it would be producing a new version (remake, reboot?) of the film with director Peter Fieg at the helm.  That skepticism turned to outrage when the first trailer was released.  Fans of the original made it clear that they found the new version unacceptable.

The question, though, is why?  Why do fans hate the new Ghostbusters so damn much?  To hear Peter Fieg and the social justice warriors of the Left tell it, it's because they're all bigoted, misogynistic bastards.  There's a lot more to the fan's outrage than the all-female cast, however.  YouTuber Midnight's Edge put together a video that goes a long way towards explaining why fans of the original Ghostbusters are so pissed off:

Long story short, fans are pissed off because the new movie co-opts and destroys everything that made the original great.  Essentially we went from this:
There's something strange...
To this:
And it don't look good.
I definitely suggest watching the entire video.  It's well worth taking 10 minutes out of your day.

Personally I'm not looking forward to the new Ghostbusters at all.  It looks like a cat turd that was dipped in neon paint and slapped up on the screen.  Then they decided on a summer release because hey, why the hell not?  I'll probably still see it, I just won't pay for a movie ticket.

What's your opinion of the new Ghostbusters?  Is it an utterly transcendent masterpiece worthy of being crowned as a new classic?  Or is it a festering pile of garbage not fit to become the leavings of a swarm of cantankerous dung beetles?  Sound off in the comments below.
